Why Authors Visit Schools
My favorite part of being an author besides the actual writing of the books is connecting with teachers and students at schools. It was my great pleasure to visit South Shades Crest Elementary School to read to the children on Literature Night.

The enthusiastic response of the students at Stone Montessori on my presentation, “How to Write Eco Mysteries” was heartwarming.

When kids have the chance to meet the author of a book they have read, or will want to read, a special connection is made. They are energized, inspired, and fired up with a new appreciation for reading. I've had many heartwarming author visits, and a few disappointing ones. Here are a few things schools can do to make an author visit successful.
* Get kids excited about the author visit.
* Place a display of the author’s books in the library and hallway.
* Have kids read one of the author’s books in advance.
* Kids can write out questions they would like to ask the author.
- * Teachers can throw a contest about the book, including posters, book marks, reviews and interviews.
